Complete Installation Knowledge Base

This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to know about installing the NXGN Hoarding System. Whether you're using pre-fabricated Panel Hoardings or on-site-built Practical Hoardings, all workmanship and materials must be in accordance with AS 4687:2022 — Temporary Fencing and Hoardings.

The NXGN system is classified as "internal temporary hoarding" per AS 4687:2022. It is a free-standing, modular hoarding system that uses engineered mild steel uprights with blow-moulded weight blocks for counterbalance — no ceiling braces, no floor penetration, no tile damage.

Select a topic below to access detailed construction specifications, fixing details, material requirements and installation best practices for each component of the system.

Panel Hoardings

Pre-fabricated panels built off-site using 70×35mm MGP10 timber frames with 9mm MDF or Plywood skins. Transported as complete units, panel hoardings are ideal for projects requiring rapid installation and consistent quality finish.

Construction Notes

AS 4687:2022 compliance requirements, material standards and general construction rules

Panel Installation

Standard and splay panel installation fixing details and screw specifications

Panel Construction

Frame and skin construction, standard panel sizes and fixing specifications

Splay Panel Construction

Angled panels for changing hoarding direction with flush corner finishes

Door Head Construction

Upright Fixing Detail

How to fix uprights to panel studs — screw specs and alignment

Corner Braces

70×35mm MGP10 timber braces for returns and splays reinforcement

Returns

Return panels closing hoardings back to shopfronts and lease lines

Hoardings Without Returns

Flush end installations using offset uprights for run termination

Practical Hoardings

Assembled entirely on-site using 70×45mm MGP10 timber with 9mm MDF or Plywood skins. Practical hoardings are ideal when pre-fabricated panel transport is not feasible, or when custom site dimensions require flexible construction.

Construction Notes

Standards compliance, material specs and general rules for site-built hoardings

Practical Hoardings Detail

Complete on-site assembly guide — timber sizes, panel dimensions and construction

Upright Fixing Detail

Upright stud fixing positions and weight block placement for practical hoardings

Doorways

Door opening requirements, offset uprights and head height calculations

Doorway Frame

Frame components — top plate, bottom plate, head studs and opening studs

Skin Fixing Specification

Returns

Additional stud installation and skin fixing for site-built returns

Splays

Offset upright positioning and splay overhang fixing details

Uprights & Counterweights

Engineered mild steel brackets that make the NXGN system truly free-standing. Uprights feature a stud receiver, horizontal member and foot, with blow-moulded weight blocks providing counterbalance without any floor or ceiling fixings.

Offset Uprights

Installing hoardings around obstacles — ATMs, pot plants, doorways

Important Construction Notes
  • All workmanship & materials in accordance with AS 4687:2022
  • Classified as "internal temporary hoarding" per AS 4687:2022
  • All hoardings erected, moved or altered by a competent installer only
  • Substitutions of material or components only with structural engineer approval
  • Hoardings are not designed for additional loading — do not lean items against hoardings
  • Timber must be free of defects at joints
  • Uprights must be free of cracks and structural defects
  • Weight blocks must be installed per NXGN Structural Drawings
