The Problem With Proprietary Counterweights
Most hoarding systems on the market rely on proprietary counterweights — custom-made, system-specific weight blocks that can only be sourced from the hoarding manufacturer. This creates a chain of costly problems for the installer:
- Long lead times — proprietary weights must be ordered from the manufacturer, often interstate, adding days or weeks to project timelines
- Freight costs — shipping heavy counterweights across the country adds significant cost to every project
- Single-source dependency — if the manufacturer is out of stock, backordered or unavailable, the entire project stalls
- Storage burden — installers must warehouse proprietary weights between projects or pay return freight
- Replacement difficulty — damaged or lost weights can only be replaced by the original manufacturer
For shopfitters and specialised hoarding contractors working across multiple sites and tight construction timelines, waiting on counterweight deliveries is simply not an option.
