What is an Offset Upright?
An Offset Upright is a standard NXGN upright that is installed at a position offset from the panel join. Instead of clamping onto the stud at the junction between two panels, the offset upright is positioned partway along a single panel by fixing to a timber trimmer installed within the panel frame.
When to Use Offset Uprights
Offset uprights are required in three main scenarios:
Doorways
Inward-hinged doors need weight blocks clear of the swing arc
Obstacles
ATMs, pot plants, columns and other floor-level obstructions
Run Ends
Hoardings without returns need offset uprights at the final panel
Timber Trimmer Fixing
To create an offset upright position, a timber trimmer is installed between the top and bottom plates at the required offset position. The trimmer provides the stud for the upright's stud receiver to clamp onto.

Offset Positioning Guide
The offset position depends on the obstacle being avoided:
- Doorways: Position the offset upright at least one door width from the door frame edge, to clear the swing arc
- Floor obstacles: Position the upright so the foot and weight blocks clear the obstacle by at least 50mm
- Run ends: Position at the last available stud or trimmer position before the end of the run
Weight Block Compliance
Offset uprights carry the same weight block requirements as standard uprights. Refer to the Load Ratings & Weight Blocks table. The offset position does not reduce the counterweight requirement.
