Hoarding Load Ratings & Weight Block Requirements

Weight blocks per panel height, maximum upright spacing & load rating table

Weight Block Type A

NXGN uses Type A blow-moulded weight blocks as the standard counterweight for all hoarding installations. These are high-visibility orange blocks that slot onto the upright foot between the weight locators.

DetailSpecification
TypeType A — Blow-Moulded
ColourHiViz Orange
Dimensions600 × 228 × 150mm
Weight (Approx.)26kg per block

Load Rating Table

The number of weight blocks required per upright is determined by the panel height. Higher panels require more counterweight and tighter upright spacing to maintain stability. This table is the definitive reference for all NXGN installations:

Panel Height Blocks Per Upright Max Upright Spacing
1200mm (Kiosk) 1 block 2700mm
2400mm (Standard) 2 blocks 1200mm
2900mm 3 blocks 1200mm
3500mm 3 blocks 1200mm
Mandatory Requirement

The weight block quantities in this table are minimum requirements per AS 4687:2022 and structural engineer certification. Do not reduce the number of blocks below these values. Additional blocks may be required in exposed or high-traffic areas at the discretion of the site supervisor.

How to Calculate Total Blocks

To calculate the total number of weight blocks for a hoarding run:

  1. Determine the panel height (e.g., 2400mm)
  2. Count the number of uprights in the run (typically one per panel join)
  3. Multiply uprights by the blocks per upright from the table above
Example: A 12m run of 2400mm high hoarding with 10 uprights = 10 × 2 blocks = 20 weight blocks total
