Understanding Weight Block Load Ratings

The NXGN Hoarding System is completely free-standing — it uses engineered counterweights (weight blocks) placed on the upright feet to provide structural stability without fixing to mall ceilings, floors, or walls. Each weight block is a blow-moulded HiViz orange TF Block Standard measuring 600mm × 228mm × 150mm, guided into position by weight locators tack-welded to the upright foot.

The number of weight blocks required per upright depends on the panel height of your hoarding. Use the calculator below to find the correct specification for your project.

Calculate Weight Blocks

Min: 600mm, Max: 4800mm

Select a panel height to calculate the required weight blocks per upright.

AS 4687:2022 Compliance & Weight Block Installation

Correct Block Placement

Weight blocks must be placed in sequential order, parallel to the hoarding face. Each block is guided into position by the 100mm × 25×25mm RHS weight locators tack-welded to the upright foot.

Structural Compliance

All uprights must have the correct number of weight blocks installed before the hoarding is considered structurally compliant per AS 4687:2022. Missing or incorrectly placed blocks compromise the free-standing stability of the system.

Engineer Certification

Hoarding heights of 2700mm and above require structural engineer sign-off. Our team provides Certificate of Structural Design Adequacy from independent engineers for all tall installations.

TF Block Standard

All NXGN weight blocks are Type A — blow-moulded HiViz orange TF Block Standard, measuring 600mm × 228mm × 150mm per block. Designed for maximum visibility and consistent counterweight performance.

Complete Load Rating Reference

The table below shows the standard weight block requirements for each panel height in the NXGN Hoarding System. Load ratings vary depending on the number of weight blocks placed per upright and the desired panel height.

Panel Height Weight Block Type Blocks Per Upright Engineer Cert Required Notes
1800mm Type A 2 No Standard internal hoarding
2100mm Type A 2 No Standard internal hoarding
2400mm Type A 3 No Most common shopping centre height
2700mm Type A 4 Yes Tall internal — requires structural engineer sign-off
3000mm Type A 5 Yes Max practical height — always requires eng. cert

Note: Load ratings will vary depending on the amount of Weight Blocks placed per Upright & the desired Panel Height of the hoarding. The amount of Weight Blocks required per Upright will vary depending on the Weight Block Type.
