Doorway Requirements
Installing a doorway in a Practical Hoarding requires a Doorway Frame to be constructed within the on-site-built frame. The doorway frame provides structural support above and around the door opening.
Offset Upright Requirement
All doorways in NXGN hoardings use inward-hinged doors — they open into the works area, away from the public. This requires Offset Uprights at the doorway to ensure:
- The door can open fully inward without hitting weight blocks
- Weight blocks are positioned behind the hoarding line, clear of the swing arc
- The doorway remains unobstructed for safe passage
Door Head Height Calculation
The door head height for Practical Hoardings is calculated using the same formula as Panel Hoardings:
Formula: Door Head Height (DHH) = Panel Height − Door Opening Height
For example, with a 2400mm tall hoarding and a 2040mm door opening, the door head height is 360mm.
Construction Sequence
- Mark the doorway position on the top and bottom plates
- Install opening studs (DOST) at each side of the doorway
- Construct the doorway frame above the opening
- Fix skin around the doorway — see Skin Fixing Specification
- Install offset uprights at the doorway
- Hang the door — see Hanging Doors
